The Elite Dropper uses side mount actuation so we can keep all the critical dimensions of the Thomson Elite cradle, bolt, and clamp geometry. One piece forged inner post for strength and reliability, no joint to loosen and fail. Actuation is by cam, so you get smooth, variable speed and height without resorting to a complicated, damage-prone hydraulic actuator; no bleeding required. 27.2, 30.9, and 31.6 diameters available. . The 27.2 Elite Dropper features the external housing and cable installation and will let you re-build that aggressive hard tail you have been dreaming of.
- The return speed is damped in the last 15mm of upward travel to be gentle on your seating area.
- 4 inches/100mm or 5 inches/125mm of infinite travel. The dropper has 5mm of setback.
- Overall weight is 592 grams including remote lever, housing, and cable. Our droppers pass EN fatigue and strength tests for seatpost. Lighter dropper posts do not!
- Our droppers have the smallest most ergonomic remote lever available and short throw for quick height changes.
Is your post infinitely adjustable?
Yes it is. You can ride with the saddle at any point in the 125mm travel range.
What colors are available?
The post is only available with a black lower tube and gold tone upper.
What tools will I need to install the post?
You need a 2.5mm Allen wrench to install the bar mounted remote lever. You need a 2mm Allen wrench to tighten the cable set screw, and you need a 4mm Allen wrench to install and tighten your saddle. You also need cable and housing cutters. If you have access to left handed tools, things will go more smoothly.
Is your dropper made in Macon, GA?
The Elite Dropper is built to our spec. in Taiwan.
How do I replace the cable and/or housing?
We really like our housing and cable but you can always use 5mm brake housing and a standard shifter cable in a pinch and it will work just fine. If you want to try out a v brake noodle or anything like that you may. Experimentation is cool! Please don’t mess with the dilithium crystals or the warp drive.
Can I flip my bike upside down with the dropper installed?
Our post is back flip approved. You may also flip the bike upside down for trail side service. Also, everything should work okay in the Southern Hemisphere.
Can I have a lever under the saddle?
We stopped making the Under Saddle Lever in September 2014.
Can I cut the post to make it shorter?
No. The post is a piece of suspension. Cutting will cause the post to fail and may lead to injury.
What are the critical dimensions I should know?
You must be able to insert at least 100mm of post into your frame to have room to use this post. If you only insert 100mm in the frame, 300mm will be exposed. 212mm is the most you can insert. 185mm will be exposed at a minimum.
Can you change the drop or rise speed?
No. Our drop and rise speed is fixed at .3 meters per second.
What do the individual parts weigh?
The post by itself weighs 515g. The remote lever, housing, and cable weigh 77g. A complete post with remote weighs 592g.
Does your post provide saddle setback?
Yes. 5mm of setback is built into the seatpost.
Can I mount my bike in a work stand by my dropper?
No! It is not a good idea to use the seatpost to hang the bike in any way. In a work stand, it is possible to crush the outer tube when clamping pressure is applied. If you are supporting the bike by the gold stanchion, you can damage the internal components.
What type of cable should I use for replacement?
You can replace your dropper cable with 5mm brake housing and 1.2mm cable available from your l.b.s. They will be happy to see you.
